JENNIFER SHIBLEY, PsyD
Dr. Jennifer Shibley is a licensed clinical psychologist. She earned her Doctorate of Clinical Psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and Master of Science in Counseling Psychology at
Loyola
College in
Maryland. She is certified in Anxiety Disorders: Research, Diagnosis and Treatment, Mental Health Recovery Facilitator Training, Assessing and Managing Suicidal Risk: Core Competencies for Mental Health Professionals, Illness Management and Recovery, Yalom Group Therapy and as a Facilitator for Loving Outreach to Survivors of Suicide.
Dr. Shibley is a pain management and biofeedback specialist at the Comprehensive Spine Center and Methodist Pain Clinic. Other clinical interests include trauma, depression, anxiety, women’s issues, relationships, family therapy, group therapy, loss issues and bereavement, creativity, spirituality and suicide prevention. With an integrative therapeutic approach, Dr. Shibley uses cognitive-behavioral interventions, psychodynamic, humanistic and existential theories as a way to promote growth, healing, recovery and empowerment, within a biopsychosocial perspective, fostered by a collaborative relationship.
Dr. Shibley completed her clinical internship and postdoctoral residency at
Virginia
Commonwealth
University, where she also provided clinical training in suicide assessment and crisis intervention to interdisciplinary healthcare professionals. She served as an independent Consultant for the Harvard School of Public Health revising educational materials for the
National
Center for Suicide Prevention Training Review. Prior clinical work includes supervised training at
Advocate
Illinois
Masonic
Medical
Center, including triage work with the crisis team in an emergency room at a
Level
One
Trauma
Center,
Chicago
Read
Mental
Health
Center, College of Notre Dame and the May Institute in
Cape Cod.
Dr. Shibley’s professional background includes employment at the National Mental Health Association, Trauma Disorders Unit at Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Health System, the Center for Addiction and Pregnancy at
Johns
Hopkins
Bayview
Medical
Center, and Columbia College Chicago, where she teaches as an Adjunct Faculty. Dr. Shibley is a member of the American Psychological Association, American Association of Suicidology, National Education Association, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Illinois Education Association and The Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues.
